In VoIP Phones

There is good news for owners of Cisco’s SPA525G or SPA525G2 VoIP telephones.

Cisco has just released a new firmware update for these phones that resolves several outstanding issues—one being that these phones will now support the Electronic Hook Switch (EHS) feature for popular wireless headsets.

EHS support will allow you to pick up and hang up calls from a wireless headset such as Plantronics or Jabra. Prior to this, you could only achieve this with a mechanical handset lifter. This integration also allows you to hear when the phone is ringing right through the wireless ear piece so you can answer the call while away from your desk. The headset button on the desk phone will also toggle the wireless headset when pressed.
